Woman Fired After Leaving Racist Note Instead of Tip
A woman in Ohio lost her job after leaving an offensive message for a server instead of a tip at Cazuelas Mexican Restaurant & Cantina in Columbus. Stephanie Lovins wrote, “I hope Trump deports you!!!” on the receipt, along with “Zero, you suck.”
The incident went viral after a restaurant employee posted a photo of the receipt on Facebook. Internet users identified Lovins as a longtime Century 21 real estate agent. Facing backlash, she denied responsibility, claiming her card had been stolen. However, the restaurant’s marketing manager, Fabio Oribio, confirmed through CCTV footage that Lovins wrote the note.

Century 21 swiftly responded, stating, “Hate has no place within the Century 21 brand,” and confirmed Lovins was no longer affiliated with the company. Cazuelas also showed support for their staff, saying, “We stand firmly against any form of hate or discrimination.”
The targeted server, Ricardo, a U.S. citizen working two jobs, received overwhelming support. A GoFundMe campaign raised over $21,000 to compensate for the tip he was denied.
