A Family’s Final Pleas and a Community in Mourning
Bailey Koch’s social media posts grew increasingly urgent as her husband’s mental health worsened. “Mental illness is taking my husband from me,” she wrote. “And I’m begging you to open your eyes and see the reality that is this society’s mental health crisis.”
Her father, Lane Kugler, later explained that Jeremy’s depression had turned into psychosis, saying, “It was not Jeremy who committed this horrific act. It was a sick mind.”
The tragedy has sparked renewed calls for mental health support. The Anchoring Hope page, once a source of guidance, is now filled with messages of grief. The community is left mourning the loss of a family—three lives taken, and one lost to untreated illness.
Their story, shared with painful honesty, now stands as a call to recognize the urgency of mental health care—for those struggling, and those trying to save them.
