TRA GIC LOSS. The Funniest Man in America has passed away today

James Gregory, known as the “Funniest Man in America,” passed away on May 9 due to heart problems. His family announced his death, saying he “brought laughter and joy to countless lives” and left a lasting impact on the comedy world.

Born in 1946 in Lithonia, Georgia, James began working at his family’s grocery store at age 11. After brief stints as a postman and in the US Marines, he spent 18 years in sales before starting his comedy career at 36 in Atlanta.

James was cared for in his final days by his three nieces, Martha Anne, Mary Jane, and Candie, who lovingly referred to him as “Uncle Bubba.”
