1. Promising Star Gone Too Soon
Georgia O’Connor, a rising boxing star from Durham, UK, has died at 25 after a tragic battle with cancer. A gold medalist at the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games and a Team GB athlete, O’Connor revealed in January she had been diagnosed with cancer and ulcerative colitis, an inflammatory bowel disease.
2. Pleas Ignored
O’Connor shared that she had suffered “constant pain” for 17 weeks and repeatedly begged doctors for help.
“Not one doctor f**ing listened to me,”* she said. “They gaslit me, told me it was nothing… refused to scan me… One even told me that it’s ‘all in my head.’”
Despite her existing health conditions increasing her cancer risk, she said she was repeatedly dismissed by the NHS.
3. Life Turned Upside Down
Her condition worsened quickly. In addition to her cancer spreading, doctors found blood clots in her lungs.
“They can say it’s terminal all they want… why the f** should I believe them?”* she asked, heartbroken by how long it took to get diagnosed.
On her 25th birthday, O’Connor revealed she had miscarried and received her terminal diagnosis within months. Despite it all, she remained strong: “I have what people consider the worst disease known to man, but I’m still able to smile.”
Just two weeks before her death, she married her partner Adriano, writing, “09.05.2025. The day I married the love of my life.”
4. Tributes and Outrage
Following her death, tributes poured in.
Boxxer called her “a true warrior… courageous and determined.”
Friend Ellie Scotney said, “Even when life was on a timer, you never let anything dim that light of yours.”
She added, “Now it’s time to expose the absolute incompetent RATS that have allowed this to happen.”
