Multiple Bodies Found in New England Spark Serial Killer Fears
The discovery of several bodies across Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island since early March has fueled speculation online about a possible serial killer. The latest case involves a woman found unresponsive on a Springfield, MA bike path on April 22. Police are investigating, but her cause of death remains unknown.
Rising Concern, But No Confirmed Link
Since March, eight bodies—mostly women—have been found across New England. Despite public fears, law enforcement has found no evidence linking the deaths. “Our investigation shows no evidence of foul play or connection to any other death or serial killer,” said Lt. Tomasz Podgorski of the Norwalk Police Department after the body of Paige Fannon was found in Connecticut on March 6.
Speculation Online and Caution from Authorities
The growing Facebook group “New England SK,” with over 17,000 members, reflects public concern. But police urge caution. “I would advise people to refrain from making snap decisions,” said Groton Police Chief Louis Fusaro after remains were found in a suitcase near a cemetery.
Authorities Say There’s No Public Threat
Despite the online theories, most cases do not appear linked. Some victims had histories of mental illness, and no trauma was found in others. “There is no known threat to the public,” said Connecticut State Police after more remains were found in Killingly on April 9.
New Haven officer Christian Bruckhart acknowledged public curiosity: “Serial killers are mysterious… people find them and their potential fascinating. However, they are real.”
While investigations continue, officials stress that no evidence supports the idea of a serial killer targeting New Englanders.
