Hummingbird Feeders That Aren’t Clean Can Be Fatal To Hummingbirds

Having bird feeders in your yard can attract beautiful birds like hummingbirds.

However, it’s crucial to clean hummingbird feeders regularly, as unclean feeders can be fatal for them.

According to World of Hummingbirds, feeders should be cleaned every three days to prevent mold and mildew from forming in the nectar.

Hummingbirds have very small organs, making them highly susceptible to food contamination. Discolored or slimy nectar indicates it’s time to clean the feeder.

Disassemble the feeder, empty the nectar, and rinse thoroughly with hot water. Use a tiny scrub brush and mild soap, ensuring no residue remains.

Once clean, let the feeder dry before refilling with fresh nectar. This practice keeps hummingbirds safe and healthy. Share this information with others to help protect these delicate creatures.
