Chapter One: A Fainting Spell
Harry Campbell, a logistics manager and father of twin boys, wasn’t new to hospital visits. But when his son Josh fainted during P.E., Harry and his wife Nancy knew it was serious. Josh had seemed tired, pale, and had lost his appetite—symptoms they’d brushed off until now.
The Hospital Visit
At the children’s hospital, Harry met Dr. Dennison, who started with a reassuring tone. “The good news is Josh is going to be okay. He has iron-deficiency anemia, which is treatable.” Harry was relieved—until the doctor continued, “But there’s something else.”
The Shocking Results
Dr. Dennison explained they had done routine blood typing. “Your blood type is B. Nancy’s is also B. But both of your sons… are type A.” Confused, Harry asked if that was unusual. The doctor replied, “It’s genetically impossible for two type B parents to produce type A children.” After confirming with a DNA test, Dr. Dennison delivered the blow: “You are not their biological father, Mr. Campbell.”
An Even Deeper Secret
As Harry tried to process the news, the doctor added, “That’s not all. Based on the DNA markers… you are their half-brother.” Stunned, Harry realized what that meant: his own father had fathered the twins. The room fell into heavy silence before Dr. Dennison said gently, “I’m so sorry. I know this is a lot.”
