A Kentucky Mother Sees “God’s Hand” in Ultrasound
Amanda Foster, 33, from Kentucky, believes she witnessed “the hand of God” during an ultrasound of her unborn son. The 32-week scan showed what looked like a large hand stroking the baby’s head. Foster had been praying for her son’s safety since doctors discovered a heart problem earlier in the pregnancy.
“There was a problem near the aorta, and it could have been deadly,” said Foster. Online, many praised the image as “amazing” and “a miracle,” though some believed it was just the baby’s hand appearing swollen and deformed during the scan. But Foster and her husband, Kyle, remain convinced. “We prayed and prayed along with several others. When we followed up with a specialist, it was gone,” Foster shared on Facebook. “I’ve been so thankful that I’ve begun to pray before every appointment.”
A Painful Past
Foster’s story started when she was 17 and pregnant with her first son, diagnosed with Potter’s syndrome at 18 weeks. This condition, caused by missing or undeveloped kidneys, is usually fatal and leads to severe deformities. “My thought at that time was, Well, if God is going to take my son, He will take me too!” Foster said. She lost the baby, and doctors warned her that Potter’s syndrome is more common in boys, making a healthy son unlikely.
A Journey Back to Faith
Though she later had two healthy daughters, Foster admitted she was “drowning in anger, pain, mind chaos, and torture.” “I never doubted that God wasn’t real, I just didn’t want anything to do with Him because of what He had done to me,” she said. But in September 2021, she turned her life over to Jesus Christ. “I was tired and completely broken.”
