Grandmother Captures Final Photo Before Tragic Hit-and-Run
On October 7, 2022, three-year-old Scarlett Jensen was tragically killed in a hit-and-run while playing outside in Oldtown, Idaho. Her grandmother was watching Scarlett and her two-year-old brother, Henry, when a speeding Chevy Tahoe drove down their private driveway, hitting both children before anyone could react.
Scarlett was killed almost instantly, and Henry, who suffered critical injuries, was rushed to the hospital. Their grandmother also sustained multiple broken bones. The driver fled the scene but was later arrested and sentenced to ten years in prison.
Despite the unimaginable loss, Scarlett’s mother, Samantha Jensen, found an unexpected source of comfort. Among photos taken by her mother that day, she discovered a final image of Scarlett, taken just moments before the accident. “I’m so thankful to have that photo. It shows her safe, happy, and loved. That’s how I want to remember her,” Samantha said.
Henry spent a week in intensive care but eventually recovered. Although the family is still healing, Scarlett’s memory lives on through the photo and the love they continue to share.
