Celeb Has Officially Renounced His U.S.

Billie Joe Armstrong Slams Supreme Court, Vows to Renounce U.S. Citizenship

Public Outcry During London Concert

Shortly after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong voiced his fury onstage in London. Mid-concert, Armstrong declared he would renounce his U.S. citizenship in response to the ruling, which stripped federal protection for abortion rights. “You’re going to see a lot more of me in the coming days,” he told the cheering London crowd.

Sharp Criticism of America

Armstrong didn’t hold back, calling the world “stupid” and the U.S. a “miserable” place. He also stated he had no plans to return to the U.S. after Green Day’s European tour. The next night, he doubled down, shouting, “F*** the Supreme Court and America,” before performing “American Idiot.”

Continued U.S. Tour Despite Remarks

Despite his harsh words, Green Day returned to the U.S. for concerts in Chicago and San Francisco, with plans for a South American tour. Armstrong’s bold comments reflect growing frustration among artists and citizens following the court’s decision.

Other Artists Speak Out

Singer Billie Eilish also addressed the issue during a July 2022 performance, calling it “a really, really dark day for women in the U.S.” She dedicated her song Your Power to the Supreme Court justices, saying it reminds us “not to abuse” power.
