Why Harrison Ford won’t be presenting at 2025 Oscars after suddenly dropping out

Harrison Ford has withdrawn from presenting at the 97th Academy Awards due to a shingles diagnosis, his publicist confirmed. He was originally set to appear alongside stars like Dave Bautista, Gal Gadot, and Samuel L. Jackson but has been replaced by his Star Warsco-star Mark Hamill.

The Oscars, held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, will see major awards, including Best Picture, with nominees such as Anora, Dune: Part Two, and The Brutalist.

Shingles, a viral infection causing a painful rash, can also lead to headaches and general discomfort, according to medical sources. Despite his condition, reports state that Ford is “doing OK.”

Ford’s health has been a concern for fans, especially after his public appearance at Disney’s D23 Expo last year, where he needed support while signing his name. While some worried about his frailty, many celebrated his legendary career and warm presence.
