A Glimpse Inside Gene Hackman’s

Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, were found dead in their Santa Fe home along with one of their dogs.

The couple had lived in seclusion for years. The discovery was made on February 26, 2025, when a maintenance worker arrived and noticed the front door open. Inside, he found Arakawa on the floor and called 911. Authorities found Hackman, 95, in the entryway, and Arakawa, 63, in the bathroom near a space heater. Their German shepherd was found dead in a kennel, while two other dogs were found alive. There were no signs of forced entry, struggle, or missing items. The house, once a private retreat, is now under investigation.
