Lyndel Rhodes, a 92-year-old Lexington, Tennessee native and the mother of renowned music producer Buddy Cannon, was recently overjoyed to hear Willie Nelson himself singing a tune she wrote called “Little House on the Hill,” according to People.

Her son captured the sweet and emotional moment when she heard the country music icon crooning her lyrics in a video that he shared on YouTube.

Lyndel wrote the song about her house in the town where she’s resided for 60 years. She was inspired to pen the country tune when she was driving from Lexington to Nashville to visit her son years ago—and now the song is going to be on Willie Nelson’s upcoming album!

About a month ago, her son recorded the tune and sent the demo to Willie. “He responded in 15 minutes saying he loved the song,” Buddy told People. “He was like, ‘Let’s record it!’” After the song was produced, Buddy went home to visit his mom and played Willie’s version for her. She was very clearly ecstatic about the whole situation.

So everyone knows of my mother’s Facebook video stardom. Well now she can add “recorded songwriter” to her resume. This past weekend at Pedernales Studio in Spicewood, Tx. Willie Nelson laid down vocals and guitar tracks on a song my mom wrote a few years ago. She showed the song to me a couple years back and I could not stop thinking that Willie would like the song if he heard it. Well, a few weeks ago I made a guitar vocal of her song and emailed it to Willie over in Maui. A few hours later I got a reply from Willie saying, “I love it. Let’s cut it”. Well we did cut it and my 92 years old mom now has herself a song on Willie’s upcoming album. Willie nailed it too. How about that folks!!
